Mauritius Museums Council

The Mauritius Museums Council, a body corporate under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, was established by the Mauritius Museums Council Act No. 3 of 2000 to replace the Mauritius Institute. It is managed by the Mauritius Museums Board. The Mauritius Museums Council has two National and seven Specialised museums under its purview.

Major Repairs to Museums

Major repairs will be caried out at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Memorial Centre for Culture, Plaine Verte. The Museum has been closed to public as from 15 March 2012 until further notice.

The Peopling of Mauritius Museum at Pointe Canon has been closed to public as from 19 March 2012 for renovation works until further notice.

A Gift Shop has been opened for the public on 11 January 2012 at the National History Museum, Mahebourg.

Inauguration of a Fauna Gallery and a Gift Shop at the Natural History Museum, Chaussee Port Louis on 23 February 2012.
